GARETH GATES EARLY DAYS
Born on 12TH July 1984 in Bradford, the eldest son of unmarred parents Paul and Wendy Gates.
His parents wedded a few years after Gareth was born.
Wendy Gates was only 18 years old and was a mum, housewife and a foster carer.
His father Paul Gates was only 22 years old and worked as an engineer locally and later became a postman.
Gareth's family consists of three younger sisters, charlotte gates, Jessica gates and Nicole gates, and a cousin,
James and also a cast of foster children's that his mother cared for.
Times were hard in Bradford but Gareth families were a very happy family living together,
Being regular visitors at the church, this guided them the right way to live their lives.
GARETH'S FIRST SHOW AUDITIONS - EARLY CAREER
Gareth Gates went on stage at the early age of five, when he played the smallest son in the King and I stage play at Alhambra, Bradford.
When he got his first laugh from the audience, it was then that he knew he wanted to be a performer,
Gareth had to wait a few more years until he was eight to find out that he could sing.
He auditioned for a school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,
his teacher asked him to sing 'any dream will do', the whole audience was stunned at the sound of his voice,
his parents could not believe that he had such a good voice.
The following year aged 9, he auditioned for the Bradford cathedral choir, he became head chorister at the age of 11,
Gareth sang in front of the Queen when she came for the Maundy services in 1997.
Gareth left the choir when his voice broke at age 14; Gareth then became a real church person at the abundant life centre in Bradford.
The church is an extradonary place of worship, a happy-clapping congregation of over 1,000 singing gospel choir,
and they even had there own pop band called the worship Team.
His parents Paul and Wendy Gates are very were staunch church followers and took young Gareth with them every Sunday.
At this stage he was a normal boy who went to school during the day and after school did guitar lessons and then
to church for his youth band rehearsal.
Sunday's were always taken up with the church services and the family at home, Saturday's Gareth was often booked
up to sing at various functions.
Gareth and his sister Nicola entered every talent competition around, Gareth went on Yorkshire television and sang a song
'Pie Jesu', he went on Talent for Tomorrow and on the Michael Barrymore's My Kind Of People and also Steps To The Stars.
All these auditions and training were preparing him for his stardom to become a Mega superstar hopefully.
